Muskego High School Drama Club http://www.tanglephotography.com/Theater/Drama-Club-Father-of-the-Bride http://www.facebook.com/tanglephotography?sk=photos
MHS Drama Club put on Father of the Bride this week. About a week ago, I took headshots of all the actors and actresses that were helping to hang the drop. Using the Canon 7d with my portrait lens (24-70mm F2.8) with dual flashes shot in the lobby with natural light, I managed to get some very nice shots like these:

I printed these up at one of our favorite National Print labs and they looked fantastic! We did 8x10's for the seniors and 5x7's for the rest of the cast. We made a collage print for the club case and I think it turned out great! The shots for the play are always challenging, because of limited lighting options. I like to do them "journalistic" style, during the dress rehearsal and candid, no posing. The lighting is decent when you are close to the stage. So I set the light meter to partial and try to get as much depth of field as possible (usually f/4 or f/5 is all I can do) and keep the ISO down around 1200-2000.
Once in a while it's good to take away some depth of field and get that fuzzy background look (called bokeh) for the shot to drive the viewers eye in, check out this shot of Kaitlyn, Miss Belemy, shot at f/2.8 with ISO 800. I was standing on the stage, near the wing so I wouldn't interrupt rehearsal too much. Next week we're off to a destination wedding. Should be LOTS of fun! Tom

We met up with Hannah on a wonderful fall day. After just a few shots, I knew we were really going to enjoyed her shining face. Check out this shot:

The Homecoming game was a great event for Muskego High School football this year! The marching band looked great as usual, including an upgrade as the drumline got their new uniforms!

Street Photography

Angel and I really enjoyed the warm August and early September weather and made it downtown on several occasions to shoot some "Street" photography. This is a great shot I took of another photographer shooting a bride and groom shot near at the Milwaukee Art Museum. Here is a link to our gallery: Street Photography Gallery
It's been a busy month or two. Back in August, we took some photos of Baby Noah. He is adorable, and less than a month old here! We have several more on the site, but these were two of my favorites. I'm sure his parents are very proud.

Megan!

Megan contacted me for a portrait recently. We went to the Botanical Gardens and got some amazing shots. My assistants, Max and Jessie, had a great time working the Canon flashes and the reflector. We tried out several shots with the 7D, using both the 28-70L and the 50mm f/1.4.

Wendy!

Today we worked with the beautiful and talented Wendy, a former drama student of mine who will be attending UW-Oshkosh in the fall. Her willingness to go with the flow and be a little silly at times made the afternoon shoot a lot of fun! We tried several different poses, so I think she has some great options for an acting or modeling headshot. Tangle Photography wishes her the best!

What a wonderful weekend celebrating the 4th of July!

Check out the gallery here!

The Klein Family

Last weekend we shot the Klein Family. What a wonderful family! The boys were a joy to work with and really had a great time. We loved the results and they did too! Karla was wise enough to bring some of their fun stuff from home to keep them going.

Young Dance Academy

Had a great time at Young Dance Academy this week. Ian and Sofia were both involved and both have tremendous talent. It was rehearsal night, allowing me to move my tripod up fairly close to the stage and use as much of the stage lighting as possible. I did do some fill flash shots, but most were natural. Check out more from the Young Dance Academy here.

Family photos in the park

Had a great day shooting the Beadle Family. Got to try out a few new areas in the park. Since it was a fairly large group, Angel agreed to come along and keep the youngsters looking at the camera. The weather was terrific, hot, sunny, humid and 80+! I wonder if the weather man gets to be "right" when he predicts 40% chance of rain and there isn't a cloud in the sky!

Check out this adorable bunch of Beadles:

Gulf Shores

We had a great time in Gulf Shores for Spring Break. While we were there, I took some photos of Dalton and Jade. It was interesting trying to deal with the elements of the beach, the sun was high in the sky, the wind was blowing and my flash was driving me crazy, oh I guess that's not an element of the beach.

Dalton and Jade were a delight to work with, they have such natural chemistry. I had a great time!

Zion National Park

While we were in Vegas, Patrick and I headed over to Zion National Park. We spent the morning hiking to Angel's Landing, a 1500 foot climb to a spectacular view! Here is the narrow foot path from Scout's Landing to Angel's Landing:

Landsailing near Vegas

We had a blast landsailing with the Beadles near Vegas! Pete was a great host, providing rental "Blokarts" so we could landsail on a huge dry lake bed. We hooked up the GPS and clocked 35 mph! Check out the pictures here:

Sheboygan Winter Adventure

Angel, Max and I cruised up to Sheboygan, stopped off at Port Washington on the way and grabbed a couple shots with my Canon 7D of the harbor.

After that we went to Sheboygan and captured this shot along with a few others.
